The Badminton World Federation has decided that the best way to promote the sport will be to appeal to fans more base instincts... as of June 1st 2011, all female badminton players will have no option but to wear shorts if they want to compete... I'm not kidding here, the only reason behind the move is to make the girls look more "stylish and aesthetic" on order to attract more people to watch the events.
I am speechless.
Don't get me wrong, I am absolutely in favour of athletic young ladies wearing skirts, but introducing rules like this, seems a little bit backwards. The BWF are already facing criticism from many groups, expecially from people like the Pakistan Badminton Federation who say that the rule offends their religious sensibilities (an entirely different issue).
I wonder what will come of this? I'm sure other sports have uniform regulations, but I expect that they justify them in terms of safety or fair play.
Anyway, that's it for now. See you all soon. :o)
Haha don't think many men will be complaining, totally unfair on the women though.
ReplyDeletei like skirts
ReplyDeleteIt's good and bad a the same time, yes, it looks pretty good, but don't make it a rule. Now, female soccer players have to play with only a string bikini, trust me, it'll call more people to like the gir... the sport.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'll never go pro, now...
ReplyDeleteI can't complain myself. ;)
ReplyDeleteyou certainly know Susi Susanti, I personally agree with these rules same as you say to make the girls look more "stylish and aesthetic" and also the safety factor.
ReplyDeleteWow that's reeeeally strange to force a rule like that. But hey I'm not complaining!
ReplyDeleteLol, that's kinda messed up, but kinda awesome too
ReplyDeleteIts the same with tennis so who cares?
ReplyDeletelol well put
ReplyDeletemaybe all women in sports should do this...wnba, downhill skiing, danika patrick...
ReplyDeleteI'mm toootally so would vote for that!
ReplyDeleteI think its hilarious, but I'm not complaining! ;D
ReplyDeleteto be honest i think it should be up to them, id think skirts would make movement easier anyway
ReplyDeleteMmmmh I'll probably watch some badminton!!! =)
ReplyDeleteyummy!
ReplyDeleteI know a lot of sports require skirts/kilts out of tradition, but it does seem awkward that the sport of badminton is doing this just now. Hope it works, though!
ReplyDeletemakes sense to me :)
ReplyDeleteam with you, bravo for the skirts
ReplyDeleteIt's kinda funny, but I would imagine there are a lot of people who don't find it funny. I would be more inclined to watch a tennis match if I were blinded by beauty.
ReplyDeleteI may have to watch more badminton now ;)
ReplyDeleteYeah that is a bit ridiculous and insensitive... Can't argue with the ratings you get from short skirts I guess.
ReplyDeletehaha but i guess it works. i wouldnt mind watching the game if they play in those
ReplyDeleteskirts are so hot
ReplyDeletethis is pretty weird but i wouldn't complain at all ;)
ReplyDeleteWhy skirts???
ReplyDeleteWow really?
ReplyDeleteThey really shouldnt be able to force this upon people. =/
ReplyDeleteSkirts aren't really a deal breaker for me... I never saw professional badminton before. As long as I like a sport, I'll watch it.
ReplyDeletethe more fanservice the better
ReplyDeleteThats an odd rule :S
ReplyDeleteI am not complaining ;D
ReplyDeleteI'd watch it more if they did this.
ReplyDeleteHard rule, fair rule to all of us.
ReplyDeleteyep. definitely should wear skirts
ReplyDelete"stylish and aesthetic". Yeah right. Just pure sexism. Plain and simple.
ReplyDeleteI think it makes sense. You're expected to wear certain uniforms for certain sports, what makes badminton any different?
ReplyDeleteChauvinism at work, friends.
ReplyDeleteI wouldnt mind watching her play
ReplyDeleteThis is fucking insane. But so is calling this a sport. I say bad form for making it a skirt as opposed to saying from now on they must wear shorts. This isn't pole dancing!
ReplyDeleteno complaints here!! :)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't complain about this, but i'm sure lots of women could :)
ReplyDeleteThis is great!
ReplyDeleteYeah it should really be up to them
ReplyDeleteWow that's a blatant sex appeal but maybe they can argue its easier to move around that way?
ReplyDeletei dont see anything wrong with it :]
ReplyDeleteNOMONOMN
ReplyDeleteI agree with this!;DD
ReplyDeleteBrilliant change. Now get women's volleyball players to only wear lingerie and you're on to a winner.
ReplyDeletethat's just ridiculus
ReplyDeletewow! that is really unfair & sexist of them. I actually like how the skirts look but to FORCE someone to wear them does indeed seem backwards
ReplyDeleteClothes are just creating problems. New Rule: Female player will play completely nude from now on.
ReplyDeleteThat's rather stupid of them.
ReplyDeleteGirl must normally not wear boggy long shorts with t shirts like men .
ReplyDeleteso strange to the female athletes look mostly similar to men when they wore long shorts and t shirts.
Its true girls were not allowed to participate in sports in the past and now they got their rights so there should be rules for them too.
As men wont wear a pyjamas to play badminton, A girl also must not look like a men but must look more feminine when playing
that difference can be made through this new rule mini skirts for all female athletes.
As for reaction, how long they will react against this new rule, if older athletes are against this new rule, younger female athletes will soon replace them by agreeing to aby to this new rule.
Men have nothing to complain against this new rule if future or younger female cute athletes have already embrace this rule.
Its completely useless for men to interfere here if less and lesser female are objecting
